Gardening

Just last week my husband went out to pick up horse manure to put in the garden and yesterday he had the kids help him plant things in it. I took a picture of the three of them out there, kneeling by the rows. Steve would put the seeds in, Sam would smooth the sides of each little ditch and Nick would come along and pat everything down. They had an efficient production line going.

I tried to do a pastel of the three of them, but ultimately settled for Sam since the red shirt and blue pants constituted the brightest of the ensembles out there.

About Marie Marfia

Once upon a time I went to a belly dancing class and promptly fell in love with my instructor and her students. As a result, I'm on a mission to complete 100 portraits of belly dancers using soft pastels. I am hoping that by the end of this project I'll have gained some mastery of pastels and of myself. Feel free to stop by and share my journey as I learn about pastels, art and the life of a daily painter.
