Pensive Woman with Glasses

I went to a party last night with my husband to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Fifty years old is such a milestone. I’m past it but I remember thinking about how now there was less of my life left than what I’d already lived. Kinda sobering.

But on the other hand, a meteorite could land on my house right now and then I would’ve turned out to be dead wrong.

Anyway, I amused myself by taking pictures of guests at the party so I’d have someone to draw besides random strangers from the Wet Canvas reference library. (Thanks, Frances!)

About Marie Marfia

Once upon a time I went to a belly dancing class and promptly fell in love with my instructor and her students. As a result, I'm on a mission to complete 100 portraits of belly dancers using soft pastels. I am hoping that by the end of this project I'll have gained some mastery of pastels and of myself. Feel free to stop by and share my journey as I learn about pastels, art and the life of a daily painter.
