Early morning

Here’s another watercolor underpainting with pastel on top. Sounds like dessert, doesn’t it?

Julington Durbin Preserve, early in the morning. Sun’s not even up yet, but it’s already turned the horizon a pale peach color. All the trees are just silhouettes, really, and the path is dark, at least to the camera. I can see it just fine.

About Marie Marfia

Once upon a time I went to a belly dancing class and promptly fell in love with my instructor and her students. As a result, I'm on a mission to complete 100 portraits of belly dancers using soft pastels. I am hoping that by the end of this project I'll have gained some mastery of pastels and of myself. Feel free to stop by and share my journey as I learn about pastels, art and the life of a daily painter.

I love the sky in this. It really is rather dramatic with the color of the path. Lovely.
